AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides opportunities for individuals to make a meaningful impact in their communities while gaining valuable professional experience. As a Public Health AmeriCorps member, you will play a crucial role in engaging volunteers and delivering preparedness presentations and hands-only CPR instruction to vulnerable populations.

Job Description:
  • You will identify and conduct outreach within the communities we serve and at partner locations to recruit a diverse pool of volunteers.
  • You will complete and assist volunteers in navigating the onboarding process to engage as a Red Cross volunteer.
  • You will support communities through the delivery of preparedness presentations and hands-only CPR instruction.
  • You will support the recovery of individuals impacted by public health and disaster-related emergencies.
Requirements:
  • You must be able to serve approximately 40+ hours per week for 5.5 months.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • You must hold a High School Diploma or GED.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
  • You must possess a valid driver's license.
  • If you currently reside outside of Hawaii, you should be prepared to relocate if selected for the position.
Desirable Qualities:
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Willingness to serve outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of collaborating with diverse groups of people both digitally and in-person.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple, competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented and willing to help others without being directed to do so.
  • Passionate about community outreach and education to build resiliency.
  • Excellent ability to navigate problems with energy and a positive attitude, flexible when priorities change.
  • Process driven and able to navigate different virtual platforms/technology.
  • Previous experience as a Red Cross or youth volunteer is a plus.
  • Bilingual language skills are not required, but highly desired.
