About the Role

">

We are seeking an experienced Government Policy and Advocacy Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our policy and advocacy department, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing legislation introduced at the state level, generating weekly executive summary reports, and providing support to HMSA's Political Action Committee (PAC). You will also assist in managing the daily operations of the HAHP, drafting legislative testimony, and updating the association's website.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and distribute weekly updates to HMSA executive staff throughout the legislative session">
  • Conduct legislative research and compile summary reports on state and national healthcare issues">
  • Manage HMSA's PAC, including complying with federal and state regulatory agency requirements">
  • Assist in managing the daily operations of the HAHP, including drafting legislative testimony and updating the association's website">
  • Composed internal communications on legislative and healthcare issues">
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, reserving meeting rooms, and taking notes">
  • Act as department travel coordinator and emergency response coordinator">

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years of professional work experience in government relations, policy analysis, or a related field">
  • Demonstrated ability to gather data, analyze information, think critically, and summarize complex topics">
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint">
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle">

What We Offer

HMSA offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
