Job Summary

As a Senior Substation Design Engineer at Axelon, you will be responsible for providing engineering design services for substation facilities and ensuring that these facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations. You will apply prescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases of projects and assist other engineering staff on more complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Develop economical, technically feasible, reliable substation physical and control designs
Provide technical management of multiple substation projects and prioritize work, working collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders
Ensure quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support as needed, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections
Provide coordination and communication with other departments in completing procurement tasks on projects with moderate supervision or guidance
Assist and guide other departments in the solution of non-standard substation design problems
Provide accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified
Provide input for development of detailed project schedules and update project management system to reflect the status of projects assigned
Ensure all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understand and comply with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in engineering and 1-3 years of experience with substation design
Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in substation/control engineering principals and other phases of engineering
Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a general office environment with no special physical demands required
