Role Summary: Medical physicists play a crucial role in the formulation, enhancement, and technical assessment of radiotherapy treatment strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine patient records for precision and thoroughness
  • Acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibration of radiation delivery systems
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and manage repair processes
  • Assess equipment functionality and suggest replacements when necessary
  • Implement innovative procedures and technologies
  • Design and uphold a quality management framework
  • Supervise treatment planning operations
  • Offer technical assistance and training to radiation personnel
  • Ensure adherence to regulations and standards
  • Monitor accreditation compliance
  • Maintain policies and procedures pertinent to radiation therapy

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a Master's or doctoral degree in physics or a related discipline, along with one year of comprehensive training in therapeutic radiological physics, and one year of professional experience in a medical setting under the guidance of a Radiation Therapy Physicist.

Certifications Required:

  • American Board of Radiology certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or a related field
  • American Board of Medical Physics certification in Radiation Oncology Physics
  • Canadian College of Medical Physics certification

Supervisory Duties:

Responsible for overseeing the work of radiation therapists and dosimetrists.

Physical Requirements:

This position necessitates the ability to sit and communicate effectively, occasional standing and walking, and the capacity to lift items weighing over 25 pounds.
