Job Summary

The Ambulatory Clinic LPN is a vital member of our healthcare team, providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced outpatient setting. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to coordinate an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, collaborating with physicians and team members to promote and restore patients' health.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination or procedure, recording health history and noting abnormal conditions for physician review.
  • Accurately administer medications, observing and recording patients' reactions and reporting to physicians as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of supplies and equipment, aiding physicians or advance practice providers during treatment, examination, and testing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely chart entries, forwarding charts as appropriate.
  • Coordinate scheduling of tests and treatments, arranging referrals to specialists and obtaining pre-authorizations as directed.
  • Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens, obtaining lab results and entering EMR as needed.
  • Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments, referring to RN/MD for patient education.
  • Review medications, treatment, and after-visit instructions with patients and families.
  • Respond to and screen telephone calls for referral to RN or physician.
  • Coordinate pre-visit planning, reviewing EMR to include patient history and proactively ordering labs and tests based on approved clinic protocols.
  • Complete necessary forms, such as FMLA, DME, and Home Health orders, and obtain physician signatures as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
  • High school graduate.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure in the state of Kansas or Missouri, depending on work location.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous medical office experience.
