Job Summary

The Dental Assistant reports to the Assistant Team Lead and is responsible for helping facilitate patient understanding of treatment needed and assisting the doctor with chair-side dental procedures. The dental assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production, and being knowledgeable about dentistry to work with the doctor in a wide variety of dental procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Seating patients and providing patient comfort
  • Updating health histories and taking vital signs
  • Being completely prepared for procedures prior to the dentist coming into the treatment room
  • Assisting chair-side with the dentist with a wide variety of procedures
  • Taking x-rays
  • Taking impressions, pouring up impressions, and lab work
  • Some independent work with patients (seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride, and more) within the assistant's scope of practice
  • Ordering and putting supplies away
  • Stocking rooms
  • Patient education about procedures
  • Cleaning and setting up rooms
  • Sterilizing instruments
  • Equipment maintenance and upkeep
