Job Overview

The Way Maker Group is seeking a highly skilled Project Superintendent to lead our commercial construction projects to successful completion. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and driving projects through a safe work environment, quality construction, effective LEAN planning & scheduling, cost management, collaboration with project stakeholders, and superior customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, updating progress construction schedules as needed.
  • Prepare and transmit various reports, including daily reports, manpower counts, project status, and owner-required reports.
  • Review and coordinate all drawings, including shop, architectural, structural, and other relevant documents.
  • Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion, scheduling work, including subcontractors and owner vendors.
  • Confers with and directs subcontractor supervisory personnel, planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Manage delivery schedules for Owner Supplied Materials and coordinate sub-contractor receipt.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work site.
  • Confers with supervisory personnel to resolve issues and conflicts and maintain schedule.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • Manage Quality Control and drive to a Zero-Punch project close.
  • Organize and support project team.
  • Manage owner, designer, subcontractor, and vendor relationships.
  • Establish and monitor administrative procedures for the project.
  • Implement our Zero-Injury Safety program.
  • Develop, manage, and drive project schedule.
  • Monitor the delivery of all needed materials for the project, ensuring optimum prices, quality, and conformance to specifications.
  • Establish budget and control costs.
  • Provide schedule, financial, and other project reporting.
  • Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors for various trades, ensuring that all phases of the work are encompassed and that a clear definition of work responsibility is defined.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment requests.
  • Issue changes in the work to receive prices from subcontractors in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare various reports to successfully manage the project, such as monthly progress analysis/schedules, billings, and status reports.
  • Organize and maintain job files to ensure continuity of workflow.
  • Submit verbal and written reports on project status to management.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with scope of work.
  • May be responsible for estimating efforts relative to the project and proposal preparation efforts.
  • Administer subcontracts, purchase orders, etc.
  • Issue ASIs to the Design Team on the Project.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Detailed-oriented experienced Religious/Healthcare/Hospitality/K-12 Education/Higher Education commercial construction superintendent with 5-10 years of experience in directly related field.
  • Ability to work to plan and specification and to clearing convey conflict and omissions via the RFI process.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear. They are regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.

Working Conditions:

Frequently in a normal office environment where noise level is moderate, and temperature/humidity is controlled. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. May be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibrations. Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud. Overtime will be required. Travel will be required.
