Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Institutional Partnerships to lead our corporate, foundation, and government grantmaking portfolio. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to secure funding and partnerships that support our mission to create a world where nature and wildlife thrive in our urbanizing world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement a Grant Strategy
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant strategy to secure funding from corporate, foundation, and government sources.
    • Research and identify new funding opportunities and partnerships that align with our mission and goals.
  • Lead Grant Writing and Management
    • Lead the grant writing and management process, working closely with a grant writer and corporate relations manager.
    • Develop and submit grant proposals, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Cultivate and Steward Relationships
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective corporate, foundation, and government partners.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including CEOs, CFOs, and other senior leaders.
  • Track and Assess Performance
    • Track and assess the effectiveness of our grantmaking efforts, including monitoring and evaluating grant outcomes and impact.
    • Provide regular reports and updates to senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Supervise and Mentor Team Members
    • Supervise and mentor a team of two people in the corporate and foundation relations department.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure they have the skills and resources needed to succeed in their roles.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in corporate, foundation, and/or fundraising, preferably in a mission-driven organization.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Exceptional communication and writing skills.
    • Ability to communicate and be understood in business English.
    • Thorough knowledge of office practices, procedures, equipment, and ability to operate standard equipment.
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, SharePoint).
    • Familiarity with Outlook, Raiser's Edge and/or Salesforce (fundraising software).
    • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
    • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and complete in a timely manner.
    • Ability to work independently, exercising independent judgment and discretion.
