Job Summary

Avery Dennison is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our team. As an Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in-plant material flow through the use of industrial engineering methods. You will also design and implement optimal station layouts that support operators and analyze demand forecast to estimate labor requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote safety as the most important value in the organization by contributing through training, process improvement, and other EH&S responsibilities
  • Optimize direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in-plant material flow through the use of industrial engineering methods
  • Design and implement optimal station layouts that support operators
  • Analyze demand forecast to estimate labor requirements
  • Partner with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to develop and execute projects that are a part of the Identifications Solutions Digital Journey
  • Install the technical systems and process for the incoming and outgoing distribution process
  • Manage special projects, which could include supplier relationships, production performance management, sustainability, and other ad hoc projects
  • Set project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and solving problems
  • Attend cross-divisional meetings to report out project and site progress updates
  • Document standard processes and procedures for implementation and training
  • Initiate, implement, and support new equipment and process upgrades to minimize scrap, increase productivity, and improve quality
  • Provide support to manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day-to-day basis
  • Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning in order to ensure that products meet quality standards
  • Reduce product and process variation through the use of Six Sigma/statistical tools and the implementation or improvement of existing procedures and process controls
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial) or 5+ years of experience in an engineering function in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • A working knowledge of designing and implementing Warehouse Management Systems
  • Experience in designing warehouse automation solutions
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D for facility layout planning
  • Experience in troubleshooting equipment and process issues
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years capital project management experience
  • Working experience in Oracle E-Business Suite R12
  • Working experience in ProShip
  • High-energy, self-directed, self-starter
  • Ability to execute multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work comfortably in a dynamic, fast-paced, and matrixed organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements
