Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner II Registered at Kaiser Permanente, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in various areas of the hospital. You will work under the supervision of a physician and be expected to exercise independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities
  • Exercise independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients
  • Provide technical resource support to physicians and hospital staff regarding respiratory care
  • Deliver respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital
  • Participate in routine departmental programs of cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing of respiratory care and other related equipment
  • Perform diagnostic tests of the cardiopulmonary system and interpret results
  • Conduct therapeutic procedures to maintain a patent airway, remove bronchopulmonary secretions, and achieve adequate ventilation and oxygenation
  • Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy and recognize adverse reactions
  • Document all required information in the medical record according to departmental policy and procedure
Requirements:
  • At least three (3) years of recent experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required
  • Graduate from a respiratory care education program supported by CoARC or accredited by CAAHEP
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California) from National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Basic Life Support
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist by the National Board
  • At least one year of recent critical care experience
  • At least one year of clinical experience in neonatal/pediatric respiratory care
