Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinical Nurse Job Description

The Albany Medical Center is seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse II to join its team of healthcare professionals in the Post Cardiothoracic Surgery department. This role requires a dedicated and compassionate individual with expertise in cardiothoracic care.

Job Summary

This position involves providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with the nursing team to create comprehensive plans of care, and ensuring that patients receive optimal treatment and support throughout their stay. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
Requirements
  • A graduate of a professional academic nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of clinical RN experience.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this role is $70,000 - $75,000, based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the Albany Medical Center offers a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
