Clinical Nurse II: Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialist

Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse II in the Cardiothoracic Surgery unit at Albany Medical Center is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout the care episode. This includes assessing, coordinating, planning, and managing transitions within the acute care stay.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments and procedures, and document treatment as required
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care rendered
- Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions
- Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing
Requirements
- Graduate of a professional academic nursing program
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- 1-3 years of clinical RN experience
- Ability to improve job performance through continuing education
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts and principles
