Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Nurse Specialist to join our team at the Albany Medical Center. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional care to critically ill patients.

About the Role

This 36 hours/week position will involve working night shifts in our ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience department. As a Critical Care Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing physician orders, administering medications, and performing various treatments and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Implementation of physician orders, administration of medications, and performance of treatments and procedures
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient conditions
  • Aßessing and evaluating patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered
  • Providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Administering over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered
  • Collaborating with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients
  • Direåcting and guiding ancillary personnel and maintaining standards of professional nursing
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program (Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree)
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license
  • Obtain and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills
