Job Overview

Salary Range: $17-$20

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify barriers to accessing essential services and collaborate with participants and their Individual Recovery Management Team to address these challenges.
  • Ensure that all individuals have comprehensive discharge plans that are clearly understood by the client.
  • Facilitate the implementation of discharge plans by coordinating necessary support services.
  • When suitable, actively assist in connecting individuals to mutual self-help groups.
  • Provide peer support to empower individuals in recovery, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs, goals, and objectives are prioritized.
  • Assist peers in recognizing their need for professional support and effectively communicate these needs to clinical staff.
  • Transport clients to appropriate referral sources or safe environments as needed.
  • Guide recovering clients in independently utilizing community resources.
  • Maintain ongoing contact via phone and/or email to offer peer support after clients exit the program, ensuring their continued success and providing re-engagement support in collaboration with other organizational members, if necessary.
  • Deliver recovery education tailored to service clients at every stage of their recovery journey, from pre-recovery engagement to sustained recovery maintenance.
  • Build and nurture relationships with community organizations and agencies in partnership with others within the agency.
  • Complete necessary documentation, reports, and data collection in accordance with Residential Housing processes.
  • Refer clients to appropriate community services as required and document all referrals and outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A strong personal belief in the recovery process.
  • Ability to effectively perform all essential duties.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with personnel, visitors, clients, and the general public.
  • High energy level, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other employees.
  • Capability to engage individuals based on their unique needs.
  • Proven ability to maintain professional boundaries with management, peers, clients, and customers at all times.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading, understanding, and speaking English.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Maryland Peer Certification is mandatory.
  • CPR/AED and de-escalation training are required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is necessary.
  • Connecticut Community for Recovery (CCAR) Training is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in using the complete suite of MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to learn in-house software.
