Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, education, and support to children and families in various clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluations of patients and families, including skilled pain and symptom management, and discharge planning.
  • Conduct focused assessments of children and families with palliative care needs, and formulate, implement, monitor, evaluate, and modify palliative care plans with input from the palliative care team and other collaborating providers.
  • Assist in all facets of care coordination for palliative care referrals, including working with hospices in the community and acting as a resource for clinical information and education as requested by community agencies.
  • Participate in palliative care research, including quality and performance improvement initiatives, and engage in quality improvement in patient care services and department functions.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, and Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position.
Physical Demands:

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
