Summary

The Bereavement Services Coordinator is tasked with managing inquiries from families, executors, and administrators concerning the administration of deceased individuals' deposit accounts and consumer loans, either through video conferencing or face-to-face interactions. This role also involves overseeing probate submissions, processing insurance claims, and establishing estate accounts as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional service experiences that enhance the Veridian brand.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of credit union policies and relevant laws governing various Specialty Accounts.
  • Examine deposit accounts and loan connections for deceased members, including both individual and joint ownerships, to ascertain the appropriate management of each account type for tax reporting.
  • Execute required updates and documentation in the credit union's data processing system for all accounts and loans associated with the deceased.
  • Collaborate with legal representatives, trustees, and executors to address outstanding loan balances, including payoffs, claims assistance, refinancing options, settlements, and repossessions until the account is resolved.
  • Assess the ongoing eligibility of remaining borrowers or those wishing to assume any outstanding debts on consumer loans, referring mortgage and commercial loans to the appropriate departments for eligibility verification.
  • File probate claims against decedent estates and monitor the process as needed.
  • Contribute positively to team objectives by consistently meeting established goals.
  • Actively promote credit union services.
  • Maintain necessary departmental records, updating member information as required.

Travel Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2+ years of experience in Member Service Representation.
  • 1+ years of experience in Consumer Lending/Processing.
  • Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including Word and Excel.
