Job Summary:

St. Catherine's Center for Children is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Direct Support Professional to serve as a Residential Program Leader. This role is responsible for managing the physical, emotional, and treatment needs of children in the Residential Program, under the supervision of the Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Management: Implement standards to maintain a therapeutic, child-centered treatment environment, and oversee the implementation of children's treatment plans as directed by the Treatment Team.
  • Direct Support: Provide oversight of Direct Support Professionals, ensuring they are aware of all policies and procedures, and coach them on timely completion of required documentation.
  • Communication: Ensure effective communication between team members regarding the program and children, and participate in daily routines and activities of the children in accordance with current standards of therapeutic treatment.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Assist the Program Manager in overseeing the safety and maintenance of the building, grounds, and vehicles, and ensure that all children have adequate clothing, personal care items, and nutritious food.
  • Training and Development: Assist in training and coaching of Direct Support Professionals, and ensure they are aware of all policies and procedures.
  • Documentation: Complete written documentation as required by the position, and review all pertinent documentation and emails at the start of each shift.
  • Crisis Intervention: Attend and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training Certification, and participate in the general upkeep of the physical environment.
  • Transportation: Arrange transportation for the children as required, and maintain van certification, complete required van inspections, and report vehicle maintenance needs to the Transportation Supervisor and Program Manager.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare, serve, and clean up meals for children as needed, and complete annual food handler training.
  • Meetings and Training: Attend various meetings related to the children, such as CSE, Service Plan Reviews, 30- and 90-day Treatment Reviews, and attend all required Agency trainings as scheduled.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Certification: Certification to administer medication required, and completion of St. Catherine's Med Certification course.
  • Experience: Professional experience working with children who exhibit a variety of emotional, behavioral, or interpersonal challenges required.
  • Skills: Ability to understand, communicate, represent, and carry out the mission, values, philosophy, and policies of St. Catherine's Center for Children, and ability to complete written documentation as required by the position.
  • License: Valid New York State driver's license required, with the ability to meet the requirements as outlined in the Revised Policy for Authorized Agency Drivers.
