Compensation and Payroll Manager

Sparks Group has partnered with a leader in the commercial property and casualty insurance industry to find a Compensation and Payroll Manager. This is a direct hire role that reports fully onsite. As a manager, you will be responsible for managing the payroll department and ensuring accurate and compliant employee compensation. You will also be responsible for implementing strategic pay & incentives aligning with company goals & market practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compensation Programs: Lead the creation, execution, and management of compensation programs, including merit increases, bonuses, executive compensation, and incentive plans.
  • Payroll Team Management: Build and empower a high-performing payroll team by managing hiring, development, and performance of team members.
  • Compensation Solutions: Develop innovative compensation solutions, including program design, incentive plans, salary structures, and job architectures.
  • HR Partnerships: Partner with HR teams to collaborate on program changes, improvements, and system efficiencies.
  • Workday Payroll: Own Workday Payroll processes to ensure smooth operation for the US and UK.
  • Compensation Guidance: Guide HR partners on compensation programs and strategies.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven track record of at least 5 years in progressively responsible roles within employee compensation and multi-state payroll.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of all federal, state, and local regulations relevant to employee compensation and compliance.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical mind with the ability to interpret, translate, and present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Tech Savvy: Tech-savvy with advanced Excel skills, experience with HRIS systems (preferably Workday), and a history of managing or configuring HCM systems.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills with at least two years of experience managing a team effectively.
  • Time Management: Exceptional time management capabilities along with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines under pressure.
  • Global Experience: Prior experience working with global compensation, payroll, and international teams is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources, or related field.
  • Certifications: Certified compensation credential; SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) are desired.
