The **Clerk I** is responsible for performing essential clerical duties.

This role involves providing routine administrative support for various departments, including the Medical Clinic.

Responsibilities include compiling data, verifying document accuracy, transporting materials, and maintaining organized files. This position operates under close supervision, allowing for limited independent decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
1.

Regular attendance is required, with potential for specific shift assignments, rotating schedules, or overtime as needed, in accordance with agency policies.

2.

Tasks include routine word processing and computer-related activities, such as creating correspondence, reports, tables, forms, and performing data entry and retrieval.

3. Develop and sustain a comprehensive recordkeeping and filing system.
4. Receive, assess, and direct incoming mail to appropriate personnel.
5. Compose responses to correspondence independently, within the scope of authority or based on supervisor instructions.
6. Act as a liaison with other departments and staff as necessary.
7. Assist the Nurse Administrator with various administrative projects as required.
8. Serve as a time gatherer for assigned units.

Other duties may include participating in agency disaster response and recovery efforts or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may require flexible shift patterns or location assignments.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with clerical tasks.

Understanding of business terminology, office procedures, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic arithmetic; knowledge of warehousing and purchasing policies; and records management techniques.


Proficiency in using personal computers and office equipment.

Ability to perform arithmetic calculations, maintain records, files, and reports, and manage stock transfers.


A typing speed of 35 words per minute or higher and a passing score of 85% on a spelling test are preferred.
