Seafood Team Leader

The Seafood Team Leader is responsible for providing overall leadership to the seafood team. This includes ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members at all times. The successful candidate will be accountable for holding team members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service, and will be responsible for hiring, training, and developing team members to ensure a high-performance team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Hold team leaders, supervisors, and team members accountable for delivering outstanding customer service.
• Make hiring and separation decisions in partnership with store leadership.
• Monitor and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
• Project annual sales and expenses and prepare operating budgets.
• Manage ordering and inventory to achieve targeted contribution to profit margin.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with departmental and store leadership.
• Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
• Sustain exceptional levels of knowledge and awareness of relevant competitors and industry trends.
• Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
• Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
• Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs and direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
• Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
• Communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards.
• Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
• Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market vision and goals.
Requirements:
• 24+ months retail experience including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
• Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
• Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
• Food safety certification. If not currently certified, commit to completing certification within 6 months.
• Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
• Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner.
• Thorough product knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
• Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Working Conditions:
The Seafood Team Leader will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, is essential. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand for 6-8 hours, and use tools and equipment such as box cutters and electric pallet jacks.
