Natural Resource Specialist/Soil Conservationist/Soil Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Natural Resource Specialist/Soil Conservationist/Soil Scientist to join our team at the Department of Agriculture. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the conservation and sustainability efforts in our organization.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide expert-level support for direct wetland determination assistance, serve as a subject matter expert for Field Offices and producers, and supervise assigned staff. They will also be responsible for reviewing and overseeing consultant-provided documentation, providing technical training on Wetland Conservation Compliance, and serving as an agency representative.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert-level support for direct wetland determination assistance to Field Offices and producers.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Field Offices and producers, providing guidance on Wetland Conservation Compliance activities.
- Supervise assigned staff, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to perform their duties effectively.
- Review and oversee consultant-provided documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Develop and deliver technical training on Wetland Conservation Compliance, including policy requirements and best practices.
- Represent the agency as a liaison between Field Offices, producers, and other stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in soil science or a related field, such as agronomy, forestry, agricultural education, or agricultural engineering.
- At least 30 semester hours in a natural resource or agricultural field, including 12 semester hours in a combination of soils and crops or plant science.
- Experience working in soil conservation or a related field, with a strong understanding of conservation planning principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary range of $66,000 - $146,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
