Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented civil engineer to join our team at the State of Rhode Island as a Principal Civil Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our highway engineering team, ensuring that all projects meet the highest safety and quality standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, supervising, and reviewing the testing, inspection, and approval or rejection of materials used in highway construction and maintenance.
  • Preparing materials specifications and originating and supervising materials research projects.
  • Initiating and supervising the development of new methods and techniques in soils and foundations engineering and their application to highway work.
  • Performing the field and laboratory work related to soil sampling and analysis.

We offer a competitive salary range of $78,236 - $88,212 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
