Job Overview:
As a Senior Systems Administrator at General Dynamics Information Technology, you will play a pivotal role in transforming technology into opportunities. Your expertise in enterprise IT will be crucial in connecting and enhancing the systems that are vital to our operations.

In this position, you will be responsible for developing and managing a hybrid-cloud mission infrastructure and services, which includes hosting various commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), government off-the-shelf (GOTS), and custom applications, along with a substantial data lake. The infrastructure comprises both on-premises components across multiple data centers and the utilization of commercial cloud resources.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will:
  • Collaborate closely with Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 engineers to provide support within the Sponsor's environment.
  • Monitor and manage a variety of COTS and GOTS applications, server hardware, and access across the enterprise.
  • Review critical issue reports and ensure that the appropriate resources are allocated to address them.
  • Make informed decisions regarding resource management and work prioritization.
  • Lead or participate in specialized response teams to tackle operational challenges or service interruptions.
  • Prepare detailed situation reports and impact analysis documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive IT consulting, triage, and problem resolution for technical products and applications.
  • Engage with customers to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex issues.
  • Coordinate the transition of IT service policies affecting IT infrastructure.
  • Propose and review new concepts, program plans, and policies to guide implementation, including drafting security plans and gathering relevant metrics.
  • Recommend hardware and software upgrades or procedural modifications to enhance efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Gather and analyze data, presenting findings to all management levels.
  • Brief senior leadership on topics impacting system performance.
  • Solicit, analyze, and track customer feedback.

Required Skills and Experience:
Candidates must demonstrate:
  • Experience in a technical help desk role supporting various Windows and Linux platforms, internet browsers, and custom applications in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Proficiency in multiple desktop programs and debugging techniques, including Check_MK, Splunk dashboards, and ServiceNow.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and general networking issues.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Experience in troubleshooting technical issues with a critical approach.

Preferred Skills:
Highly desired qualifications include:
  • Experience in developing within ServiceNow.
  • Familiarity with Jira.
  • Ability to create and analyze data metrics.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services or cloud administration.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

BA/BS in Information Technology or a related field
