Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Development Assistant to join our team at Volunteers of America, Dakotas. As a key member of our out-of-school time programs, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and engaging environment for our youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of our students through active supervision and monitoring.
  • Program Implementation: Assist in the planning and execution of educational and recreational activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Homework Support: Provide individualized support to students with their homework and educational activities, fostering a love for learning and academic success.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring a safe and healthy space for our students.
  • Snack Service: Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks, promoting healthy eating habits and social skills.
  • Attendance and Tracking: Help track student attendance and participation, ensuring accurate records and reporting.
  • Cultural Competence: Embody and promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, valuing the unique backgrounds and experiences of our students and staff.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information, upholding the trust placed in us by our students and families.
  • Professional Development: Participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old; if under age 18, must work under direct and constant supervision of a Youth Development Professional or Site Coordinator.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, and bend on a daily basis.
  • Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs on a daily basis.
