PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive the identification, prioritization, and execution of continuous enhancement projects within our Metal Powder Coat Finishing and Assembly sectors. Foster sustainable advancements through team engagement, employing servant leadership, technical expertise, and continuous improvement methodologies to elevate safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. Leverage lean principles, including standardized processes, problem-solving techniques, material management, and kaizen initiatives. Oversee engineering change notifications and collaborate closely with quality assurance and product development teams to address customer requirements and facilitate new product introductions. Manage capital projects aimed at resourcing new product lines and equipment necessities while promoting SQDC improvement strategies.

KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Utilizes fundamental supply chain cost analysis, value stream mapping, and economic principles.
  • Applies engineering knowledge to assigned tasks.
  • Employs problem-solving abilities to independently resolve issues.
  • Mentors others in basic engineering tasks.
  • Completes engineering assignments under the guidance of leadership.
  • Adheres to engineering and quality assurance protocols.
  • Oversees capital procurement projects for manufacturing line enhancements and installations.
  • Seeks mentorship from senior engineers and leadership.
  • Obtains budget approvals through the appropriate request channels.
  • Documents progress and activities, illustrating work and assumptions.

Undertakes additional tasks as necessary to meet business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Implement lean manufacturing strategies and principles across work cells and processes.
  • Conduct quality assessments of defect anomalies, process failures, and customer feedback.
  • Document design modifications to ensure compliance with BOM requirements.
  • Initiate and execute process improvements within production lines.
  • Support financial objectives and cost reduction strategies during product planning, launch, and post-launch phases.
  • Lead enhancements in powder coat paint line processes to ensure safety, product quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, and Production Operations.
  • Engage in Design for Manufacturability initiatives for both new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with product development, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to implement engineering change notifications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years preferred.
  • Education: 2- or 4-year technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proficient understanding and a minimum of 3 years' experience in Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies, including Standardized Work, Kaizen, Problem-Solving, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow, TPM, Jidoka, SMED, etc.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, powder coat painting, metal materials, and both semi-automated and automated equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and convert information into actionable solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with design and fabrication software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Capability to develop business cases for capital expenditures and manage equipment specifications and installation projects.
  • Adept at managing, prioritizing, and balancing multiple projects.
