This includes generating high-risk fraud alerts, investigating fraudulent activities, and recovering confirmed fraud cases. The position demands extensive collaboration with various departments to effectively minimize and mitigate fraud risks for both the bank and its clientele.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and uphold the Fraud Risk Management Program, ensuring compliance with Bank Fraud Policies.
  • Establish robust fraud management controls and monitoring processes, including key performance indicators and a fraud analysis framework.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of fraud risks faced by the bank through effective risk assessment and prevention strategies.
  • Develop action plans to address identified weaknesses and mitigate fraud risks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for fraud oversight in new product launches and daily operations.
  • Continuously research industry best practices to identify emerging threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Reduce fraud losses and scams through effective prevention and detection strategies.
  • Oversee internal and customer training programs to ensure foundational fraud prevention measures are established.
  • Collaborate with the BSA team to vet fraudulent or suspicious applications.
  • Utilize industry contacts for benchmarking information and to assist in fraud investigations and recoveries.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure service levels and performance standards are met.

Fraud Operations and Investigations

  • Lead fraud operations to ensure effective mitigation of fraud losses.
  • Direct investigation initiatives with measurable milestones and goals, providing regular updates to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of fraud investigations and regulatory reporting.
  • Deliver comprehensive briefings to internal partners regarding identified issues and findings.
  • Conduct ongoing fraud risk assessments within operational units to monitor potential risks.
  • Maintain ownership of all fraud-related procedures and documentation.
  • Support internal fraud investigations as necessary.

Fraud Strategy and Analytics

  • Collaborate with the second line of defense on data analysis to identify trends and enhance fraud strategies.
  • Leverage fraud strategists to respond to real-time events requiring immediate action.
  • Ensure all fraud monitoring strategies include effective measurement controls and optimization processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of direct reports.
  • Provide training and coaching on fraud-related matters as needed.
  • Develop and execute an expanded support structure with teams in Asia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of banking experience, particularly in fraud operations within retail banking.
  • 7+ years of experience in leadership or influence roles is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws regarding bank fraud and compliance regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of bank products, services, and transaction types.
  • Familiarity with automated fraud transaction monitoring systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with team members at all levels.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Proven capability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is strongly preferred.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is USD $200,000.00/Yr. - USD $280,000.00/Yr. Compensation will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
