Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
  • Prepare equipment and medications, administering respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians; document treatment responses and progress.
  • Set up and monitor ventilators for patients unable to breathe independently.
  • Perform arterial punctures and blood gas analyses.
  • Monitor patients and equipment, making necessary adjustments during rounds.
  • Record vital signs and equipment settings as required.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic procedures.
  • Ensure high-quality respiratory therapy services and collaborate with medical and nursing staff.
  • Assist with special procedures such as pulmonary function tests and bronchoscopy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the NBRC.
