Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance standards.
  • Prepare equipment and medications, administering respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians; document treatment, responses, and progress.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor ventilators for patients unable to breathe independently.
  • Perform arterial punctures and analyze arterial blood samples.
  • Monitor patients, check equipment, and make necessary adjustments during rounds.
  • Record and document patient vital signs and equipment settings as required by specific procedures or tests.
  • Provide guidance in therapeutic procedures to patients, families, or staff.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality respiratory therapy services; available for consultation with medical, nursing, and administrative teams.
  • Assist with special procedures, including pulmonary function tests and bronchoscopy.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of all respiratory therapy equipment to guarantee safe patient care.
  • Possess knowledge of Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
  • NBRC certification as a CRT.
