Overview:
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
A clinical professional tasked with managing inquiries, evaluations, and admissions to the facility.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the admissions and evaluation processes for new patients.
- Address inquiries regarding the facility in accordance with established policies.
- Arrange and conduct pre-admission evaluations, relaying recommendations to patients or their families.
- Collaborate with medical and psychiatric staff to ensure suitable recommendations and admissions.
- Manage admissions and transfers between various levels of care within the facility.
- Timely communicate anticipated admissions to designated internal representatives.
- Conduct insurance benefit verifications and share findings with patients, their families, and relevant facility personnel.
- Collect all necessary medical admission documentation from external sources prior to patient entry and secure initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission.
- Assist therapists with concurrent reviews with insurance providers to ensure continued treatment.
- Coordinate and facilitate peer-to-peer reviews as necessary, collaborating results with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Provide ongoing assessments of patient status throughout the admissions process.
- Communicate treatment recommendations and coordinate with other treatment teams.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Perform additional functions and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Sociology, Public Administration, or a related field; in certain states, may also require a registered nurse qualification, in which case, an Associate's degree in nursing may be the minimum educational requirement or a licensed practical or vocational nurse, in which case, successful completion of an LPN or LVN training program may be the minimum requirement. For states where a therapist may fulfill this role, a master's degree in a therapeutic field is required.
A minimum of one year of experience working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity, preferably within the specialty area of the hiring facility.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/
CERTIFICATIONS:
Licensure, as required for the area of clinical specialty, i.e., RN license, CAC, or other clinical counseling or therapy license, as designated by the state in which the facility operates.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by the facility).
First aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
