Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Admissions Specialist to join our team at Maple Heights Behavioral Health. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for facilitating the admissions process, conducting clinical intake assessments, and ensuring continuity of care for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inquiries about our facility in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and their families to ensure a smooth admissions process.
  • Perform benefit eligibility checks to ensure patients have active benefits at the time of admission.
  • Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure accurate recommendations for patient care.
  • Coordinate admissions and transfers between levels of care within our facility.
  • Maintain knowledge of milieu management to ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients.
  • Communicate projected admissions to internal representatives promptly.
  • Ensure all clinical information is received prior to patient admission, when possible.
  • Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments, consult with admitting physicians, and communicate disposition recommendations to patients or their families.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate medical record documentation to support authorization for treatment and admission.
  • Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission prior to admission, when possible.
  • Admit patients in our registration and accounting system, complete admission and consent forms, and demonstrate a positive and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a social services field, or Master's degree in a related field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
  • Three or more years' experience in mental/behavioral health, working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.
  • Experience in managed care pre-certification, level of care assessments, and utilization review preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Current licensure, as required for the area of clinical specialty, i.e., current RN license, CAC or other clinical counseling or therapy license, as designated by the state in which the facility operates.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
