Job SummaryWe are seeking a Heavy Civil Laborer to assist our Foreman and skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties under close supervision. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to learn a skill and advance their career in the construction industry.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Dig, spread, and level dirt, sand, and gravel using hand tools.
- Lift, carry, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
- Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials.
- Join, wrap, and seal pipe sections.
- Perform routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, and assembling pipe sections.
- Assist in machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering, and fusing pipe.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The employee in this role must be knowledgeable about and follow the company's safety policies and procedures as described in the safety manual.
Education and ExperienceLess than High School Diploma. Three or more years of related construction experience preferred.
Physical Activity Level and Working ConditionsHeavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions.
