Join Empower's Team as a Director of Corporate Strategy

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Corporate Strategy to join our team at Empower. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving long-term strategic decisions and evaluating new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate strategic business, product, and partnership opportunities to help Empower decide where to deploy its resources to maximize long-term value.
  • Collaborate with Empower's leadership team to drive strategic decisions by clearly defining a challenge or opportunity, developing actionable solutions, and understanding tradeoffs.
  • Evaluate new business expansion opportunities from start to end, including building the initial hypothesis, testing it, refining the proposed solution(s), and sourcing potential partners.
  • Manage external partner relationships, including initial identification, evaluation, negotiations, and onboarding of new partners.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and industry offerings to identify upcoming challenges or white space opportunities for Empower.
  • Support the strategy development process during the annual budget season and when developing the multi-year strategic business plan for Empower.
  • Build financial models, simulations, and business cases to identify patterns and inform data-driven decision-making.
  • Solve hard, ambiguous questions by thinking creatively and collaborating cross-functionally with data analytics, finance, product, marketing, advisory, and other teams.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in leading strategic projects and evaluating new business opportunities in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Professional experience in strategy consulting, banking, corporate strategy, or a similar role in high growth tech companies preferred.
  • In-depth financial services industry knowledge, including emerging trends, competitors, and market dynamics.
  • Outstanding communication skills, adept at influencing and persuading stakeholders through effective and impactful communication.
  • Analytical thinker with a proven hypothesis-driven approach to ambiguous questions, bringing structure to quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • Passionate about tackling complex and impactful business challenges with a high level of independence and attention to detail.
  • Expert in creating compelling presentations that tell a story as much as persuade with data analysis.
  • Ability to quickly switch context between 10k feet strategic level and detailed execution-oriented work.
  • Bachelor's degree.
