The Community Health Endowment (CHE) is dedicated to enhancing health-related initiatives and fostering community engagement around critical health matters, aiming to position Lincoln, NE as the healthiest city in the United States. For our current funding cycle, CHE emphasizes support for:

Since its inception, CHE has allocated over $40 million within Lincoln while maintaining the endowment's growth in line with inflation for future generations. In addition to funding community organizations that exhibit innovation, creativity, and expertise to enhance health in Lincoln, CHE has backed significant projects that reinforce its legacy of improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations. These initiatives present substantial opportunities to elevate the health and well-being of Lincoln residents, including the Medical Assistance Program, the Healthy Food Access Project, the Schroder Park Wellness Campus Project, the Health 360 Project, the Adverse Childhood Experiences Institute, and the Cultural Centers of Lincoln.

CHE operates under the guidance of a committed 15-member Board of Trustees, with a team of four full-time employees and an annual budget of approximately $750,000. As a pivotal organization in Lincoln, CHE serves as a high-functioning capacity builder and convener. By actively listening to the community, organizational partners, and various stakeholders, CHE leverages its profound understanding of local needs to further its mission of establishing Lincoln as the healthiest city nationwide. Over its 26-year history, CHE has evolved from supporting small-scale projects to funding larger legacy initiatives such as Health 360, which integrates mental health, substance use, and primary care services. Its robust financial standing has empowered the organization to expand its support for the community and effectively tackle health disparities across all demographics.

The next leader of CHE will report to the Board of Directors and collaborate with a dedicated team to develop a new strategic vision. This individual will delve into the concepts and practices of health equity as they pertain to the Lincoln community. The Chief Executive Officer will be deeply engaged in the community and serve as the primary representative of the Endowment. With a strong focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, the successful candidate will continue to foster authentic and respectful relationships within Lincoln to address health equity and access to healthcare.

We are looking for an organizational builder capable of raising awareness and articulating the Endowment's vision and mission clearly. This individual should exhibit a high degree of empathy and compassion, particularly towards BIPOC communities affected by the organization's initiatives.

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required, along with evidence of ongoing professional development, relevant accreditation, and experience in board leadership.

Community Health Endowment offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is between $170,000 and $190,000, commensurate with experience. CHE provides a comprehensive benefits package, including paid holidays, vacation, health, vision, and dental insurance, as well as a pension benefit and a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan for voluntary participation.
