Job Summary

The Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist will work closely with the physician coordinator to ensure efficient patient flow in the clinic. This role requires obtaining and documenting patient vitals, performing venipuncture, and assisting with medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare equipment for blood collection and maintain adequate supplies.
  • Perform venipuncture and access ports and other vascular access devices.
  • Assist with patient care responsibilities, including accompanying patients to exam rooms and relaying instructions to patients and families.
  • Post laboratory results on the computer in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the physician coordinator to maintain a smooth patient flow.
  • Perform environmental responsibilities, including setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning exam and procedure rooms, and restocking supplies.
  • Assist with organizational responsibilities, including respecting patient rights and sharing concerns with supervisors.
  • Process outside laboratory specimens as needed.
  • Run and report laboratory testing, including performing daily quality control and maintenance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification.
  • Strong medical terminology knowledge.
  • Efficient and effective blood draw skills.
  • Excellent computer and office equipment skills.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Work Environment

This position involves potential exposure to infectious diseases. Colleagues are offered appropriate vaccinations and safety training.
