Heavy Equipment Technician

The Heavy Equipment Technician at Duit Construction is responsible for diagnosing and repairing dump trucks and tractor-trailers. Key duties include inspecting vehicles, performing routine service, and maintaining accurate records of work done.
Responsibilities include:
- Crawling under or climbing in or on vehicles or equipment for maintenance and repair inspections.
- Repairing, removing, and replacing moving parts and other components of vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
- Disassembling, repairing, removing, and replacing parts of engines, transmissions, drive assemblies, brakes, and clutches of vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
- Tuning, adjusting, and regulating equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors, and other mechanical components with variable settings.
- Lubricating and servicing vehicles, equipment, or machinery and maintaining accurate records of such service.
- Requesting repair parts and lubrication supplies as needed.
- Assisting workers of other crafts when not engaged in lubrication, service, maintenance, and repair work.
- Maintaining accurate records on truck lubrication, service, and repairs.
- Working harmoniously, cooperatively, and courteously with others at all times.
- Following directions and instructions from supervisors.
- Performing various tasks and duties that may often change as the work conditions require.
- Working within defined standards of accuracy.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
Required skills and abilities include:
- A valid driver's license and clean MVR.
Education and experience requirements include:
- A certificate from college or technical school; or twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical requirements include:
- The ability to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
- The ability to perform frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
- The ability to see and hear well (naturally or with correction).
This is a safety-sensitive position.
