We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Nurse Coordinator to join our team at WVU Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the SANE Program, ensuring its smooth operation and promoting its purpose and mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the SANE Program, ensuring its compliance with state legislature and maintaining knowledge to ensure program functioning.
  • Act as a resource in current state legislature and maintain knowledge to ensure program functioning.
  • Prepare and provide orientation and perform evaluation of personnel in the SANE Program.
  • Establish annual competency and quality assurance goals.
  • Schedule meetings to provide timely updates and disseminate necessary information to ensure program objectives.
  • Distribute information, verbal or written communication, to ensure that necessary information has been communicated.
  • Prepare the monthly on-call schedule, communicate schedule needs to provide 24/7 coverage.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment as needed to conduct forensic examinations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Emergency Department Director and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Coordinator.
  • Attend monthly county SART meetings.
  • Collaborate with West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services (FRIS), The Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center (RDVIC), and West Virginia University and Title IX to provide information and education to WVU students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and communicate pertinent information pertaining to the forensic medical examination and history obtained from the victim.
  • Assist personnel in preparing for courtroom proceedings.
Requirements
  • Current licensure by the West Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Completion of forty hours of SANE training following recommended guidelines of Emergency Nurses Association and International Association of Forensic Nurses.
  • Completion of 20 hours of continuing education annually applicable to forensic nursing.
  • Two years' nursing experience including forensic nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Previous experience with developing and conducting educational programs.
  • Previous supervisory, teaching, or leadership experience.
