Job Summary

The Water/Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment facilities at one or more plants, processing, and testing equipment in a water treatment facility to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water treatment facilities, processing, and testing equipment to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose operational problems and take corrective action per procedure and process knowledge.
  • Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels and programmable logic control units in assigned areas.
  • Monitor and record operating conditions, observations, and data in area shift logs.
  • Ensure conformance to process specifications.
  • Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to a supervisor.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance-related items as assigned.
  • Perform field laboratory tests (chemical and physical) to pace chemical dosages for efficient process control.
  • Ensure that all safety and environmental requirements are consistently achieved, including strict compliance.

Requirements

  • Class C FDEP Water License and a C Waste Water Operator's License to be considered for this position.
  • Valid driver's license.
