Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM

Compensation:

Starting salary for certified Bachelor's degree holders is $61,070, while those with a certified Master's degree will start at $68,652.

Position Summary:

The Brooklyn Community Services is proud to introduce a cutting-edge early childhood education facility dedicated to fostering the growth and development of young learners. Our program is meticulously crafted to support the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and linguistic development of children through exceptional educational and community services tailored for them and their families. The Senior Educator will oversee an assistant educator and will be responsible for designing and implementing enriching learning experiences utilizing the Creative Curriculum for Preschoolers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures established by Brooklyn Community Services.
  • Supervise an assistant educator, delegating daily responsibilities to ensure effective classroom management.
  • Collaborate with the assistant educator, under the guidance of the Director of Education, to create and deliver diverse and high-quality learning experiences for children.
  • Work together with the assistant educator to develop and execute weekly lesson plans aligned with NYS Common Core standards, Creative Curriculum, and program readiness objectives, ensuring educational practices are suitable for the developmental stages of children.
  • Provide support in lesson planning to the assistant educator, incorporating their insights and facilitating the execution of activities.
  • Conduct observations of children, complete quarterly developmental assessments, and engage in parent conferences or home visits as necessary.
  • Actively participate in team meetings with the assistant educator to collaborate on lesson planning, individualized strategies, and special events; engage in supervision sessions with the Director.
  • Utilize community resources to enhance the educational offerings of the program.
  • Ensure the classroom is appropriately arranged and maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and families of the children served; maintain strong connections with colleagues and administrative staff.
  • Comply with health regulations regarding direct supervision and ensure the classroom is adequately staffed at all times.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations by the entire classroom team.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that align with the responsibilities outlined above.

Qualifications:

This position requires a BA/BS degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education, along with a NYS Certification N-6. Candidates who are not NYS certified and do not possess a Master's degree must be prepared to:

  • Enroll in a Master's program to obtain a Master's degree;
  • Achieve NYS Certification in N-6;
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience working with children in the N-K age range.
  • Complete a criminal background check and fingerprinting as required.
