New York, New York, United States eFinancialCareers Full time
Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled Index Data Specialist to join our team at eFinancialCareers. As a key member of our data team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the rules that transform production-ready data into the foundational building blocks for index construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data governance policies to ensure high data quality and integrity.
  • Collaborate with data teams to define and implement necessary calculations and methodologies for processing and ingesting data.
  • Evaluate data ingestion methodologies, assess data pipelines, and scrutinize vendor methodologies to ensure high data quality.
  • Develop logic for determining a single source of truth for data points, aggregate data into usable building blocks for index calculations, and perform rigorous data quality assurance (QA) checks.
Key Knowledge Areas:

We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in fundamental company data, including balance sheets, yields, and other financial metrics used in building indices.

Key Knowledge Areas:

  • Deep understanding of how index providers and asset managers select and adjudicate between data vendors (e.g., FactSet, Morningstar, Bloomberg) to establish a single source of truth for financial data.
  • Expertise in working with multiple data vendors, along with an understanding of market conventions, including vendor strengths and weaknesses.
Technical Requirements:

We require a strong quantitative skillset, with a deep understanding of mathematics and statistics applied to index-related calculations.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proven experience in reviewing and interpreting fundamental financial data, ensuring that indices are built using accurate company data.
Preferred Experience:

Candidates with vendor experience from FactSet, Morningstar, or other market data providers are highly preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Strong expertise in company fundamental data, rather than ETF-related data outputs, is particularly aligned with this role.
Talent Pools:

We are looking for ideal candidates from FactSet, Morningstar, or similar data vendors, particularly those with a strong background in vendor data management.

Talent Pools:

  • Candidates with a strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data management principles are highly preferred.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how a major financial institution utilizes data in its index construction and portfolio management processes. If you have deep expertise in financial data and are passionate about data methodologies, we encourage you to apply.
