About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in a correctional setting. As a Registered Nurse with the GEO Group Inc, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing comprehensive nursing care to detainees/inmates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive physical assessments and medical histories on detainees/inmates entering the correctional system.
  • Assist physicians with sick call, screening patients and minor surgical procedures, and treat detainees/inmates with problems within professional capabilities.
  • Implement physician's orders, administer prescribed medications, and apply knowledge of drugs and therapeutics in dispensing medication.
  • Maintain security while dispensing medications, ensuring non-involvement in security aspects of care.
  • Prepare regularly scheduled reports and special reports as necessary, and maintain compliance with industry and company policies for accreditation.
  • Document all detainee/inmate contacts, maintain confidentiality of medical records, and coordinate Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling.
  • Supervise the work flow of LPN staff, provide input into performance evaluation, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an approved program, graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located.
  • Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred, with competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
  • Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow-through treatment.
