Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join our team at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. As a key member of our Electronics Division, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining state-of-the-art electronic systems for our radio telescopes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot complex electronic problems and develop solutions to improve system performance
  • Design and implement electronic systems using a wide range of test equipment and engineering techniques
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electronic systems with other telescope components
  • Travel to remote telescope sites to perform maintenance and repairs
  • Work with vendors to source parts and outsource maintenance tasks
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or closely related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in electronics engineering, including experience with radio telescope systems
  • Advanced degree in Electronics Engineering or closely related field preferred
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electronic design automation tools and software
  • Knowledge of RF and digital circuit design
  • Experience with inventory management systems
  • Ability to work at high altitudes
