Position Overview:

The Lead Coordinator for School Age Care is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment for children in grades K-5. This role involves mentoring and serving as a positive influence in the lives of young learners through the YMCA's before and after school programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the design, management, and assessment of engaging group activities at designated school sites.
  2. Promote quality recreational experiences aligned with the core values of caring, equity, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  3. Support the Site Director in overseeing program operations and staff training.
  4. Maintain effective communication with parents and the community regarding program updates and activities.
  5. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the program site.
  6. Conduct administrative tasks such as maintaining records, registrations, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • At least 6 months of experience working with school-aged children.
  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
  • Certification in Adult and Child CPR or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days.
  • Knowledge of child development and recreational programming.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Degree in education, recreation, or a related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with program planning and implementation.

Work Environment:

Must be able to actively engage in physical activities, including swimming and field trips, and be prepared to respond effectively in various situations involving children.
