Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Fixed Plant Maintenance Planner to join our team in Arizona. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activities for our fixed plant facilities, ensuring optimal equipment performance and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and Scheduling
    • Develop and maintain rolling monthly, quarterly, and annual plans for equipment maintenance, including short, medium, and shutdown type activities.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of equipment maintenance history, work orders, and job records.
    • Identify potential work opportunities using condition monitoring programs and provide guidance to project managers and supervisors.
  • Finance
    • Optimize maintenance budgets and resources by effectively utilizing subcontractors and managing equipment maintenance costs.
    • Assist with procurement and freight of parts and services, ensuring reliability and quality.
    • Maintain accurate costing reports and support documentation, ensuring all completed work orders are closed out.
    • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs, enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintenance and Reliability
    • Utilize predictive maintenance processes to raise re-work requests and organize additional maintenance requirements.
    • Ensure all necessary materials, parts, personnel, tools, permits, and equipment are available for execution as per the plan.
    • Review and audit mechanical repairs and services to ensure compliance with site maintenance schemes.
    • Review and report on planning and scheduling, equipment reliability, and maintenance department performance.
    • Manage tire life cycle and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Safety, Environment, and Community
    • Assist in implementing and complying with HSE plans to ensure safe and sustainable mobile plant and ancillary equipment operations.
    • Provide expert advice in incident investigations and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Relationship Management
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders to enhance coordination between the maintenance department, mine leadership, and client groups, minimizing disruptions to operations.
    • Communicate detailed maintenance plans to maintenance department, mine leadership, and client groups on a weekly basis.
    • Promote strong relationships with internal stakeholders to identify new business opportunities and enhance client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mobile equipment maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in fixed plant equipment planning and mining maintenance activities.
  • Strong proficiency in Office 365, including Excel and MS Project.
  • Experience with SAP or JD Edwards ERP software.
  • Knowledge of Cat SIS and OEM parts manuals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess is required.
  • Fluency in the English language is essential.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in various weather conditions, including temperatures below zero degrees and 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Able to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and climb ladders.
  • Able to work extended 12-hour shifts.
  • No auditory or visual impairments restricting the ability to see distances while driving and clearly discern auditory and visual alerts/alarms.
  • Quick response and reaction times.
  • Arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity.

Education

  • Trade or tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical.
  • Training and/or experience in maintenance management and/or maintenance planning processes.
  • Vocational training in mechanics, engineering, or related fields.
