Job Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate II to join its NJMS- Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience team. As a key member of the research team, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing experiments independently, assisting in the training of graduate students and technicians, and contributing to the development of new procedures and instrumentation functions of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory, including stereotactic surgery for brain injection and implantation, in vivo imaging, mouse perfusion and slice preparation, immunocytochemistry, RNAscope assay, and behavioral tests.
  • Record and analyze data for studies, maintain accurate records of individual experimentation and research, and contribute to the writing of manuscripts and review articles.
  • Assist in the development of new procedures and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, and contribute to the training of graduate students and technicians.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or M.S. plus three years of experience with research experience in neuroscience or a relevant science.
  • Record of excellence and productivity in research, and ability to lead work independently.
  • Experience in stereotactic brain surgery of mice for virus injection and canula implantation, regular behavioral tests.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Slice patch-clamp recording, and in vivo fiber photometry.
  • Experience in in vivo imaging using miniscope.
