The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator with the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment and facilities. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks directly and coordinating with external service providers as needed. The Specialist is also a member of the Emergency Response Team and must be available for urgent situations outside of regular work hours.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist include maintaining and managing:

Major Systems:
  • Ensuring facilities are clean, safe, and compliant with regulations, providing a comfortable environment for team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Overseeing the functionality of HVAC systems across all facilities.
  • Maintaining refrigeration systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Managing plumbing systems to guarantee proper functioning.
  • Ensuring food service equipment is fully operational at all relevant locations.
  • Maintaining generators and transfer switches for applicable facilities.
  • Performing maintenance on other systems as directed by the supervisor.
Basic Facility Maintenance:

This maintenance is generally scheduled within the standard workweek, with emergency situations being less frequent.

  • Maintaining miscellaneous facility equipment, such as checkout lanes and cleaning tools.
  • Managing facility lighting, including repairs and replacements.
  • Overseeing loading docks, including door mechanisms and levelers.
  • Maintaining entry and exit points, including automatic doors and locking mechanisms.
  • Conducting standard physical maintenance tasks, including carpentry, drywall repair, and painting.
  • Coordinating trash and recycling services with contracted providers.
  • Collaborating with property management for building maintenance needs.
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Critical Infrastructure Maintenance:
  • This maintenance is often urgent and requires strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with external contractors is essential.
  • Immediate response is required for critical infrastructure issues, regardless of prior commitments.
Emergency Response Duties:
  • The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is part of the Emergency Response Team and must be responsive outside of regular hours, including being on-call for after-hours emergencies.
Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate equipment such as pallet jacks and floor scrubbers.
  • Valid driver's license for operating a non-CDL straight body box truck (DOT medical card exam required).

Work Ethic:

  • Ability to work independently and follow directions accurately.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain mobile throughout shifts.
  • Willingness to work early mornings and overnight shifts.
  • Full sensory range for quality control and communication.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
  • Capability to bend, stoop, and maneuver for various tasks.
  • Prolonged standing and walking are necessary.
  • Ability to work in cold environments and handle cold products regularly.
