Job Overview

Kimberton Whole Foods Inc is seeking a dedicated, full-time Facilities Maintenance Specialist to enhance our operational team.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, consisting of 8-hour shifts across 5 days.

Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Compensation: $26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will assist the Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment and facilities. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks directly and coordinating with external service providers as needed. The Specialist is also a member of the Emergency Response Team and must be available for urgent situations outside standard work hours.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary focus of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist is to maintain and oversee the following:

Major Systems:
  • Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and compliant with regulations, providing a comfortable environment for all.
  • Maintain HVAC systems across all locations.
  • Oversee refrigeration systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Manage plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
  • Maintain food service equipment in applicable areas.
  • Ensure generators and transfer switches are operational.
  • Perform additional system maintenance as directed by the supervisor.
Basic Facility Maintenance:

Routine maintenance tasks are generally scheduled within the standard workweek, with emergency situations occurring less frequently.

  • Maintain miscellaneous facility equipment (e.g., checkout lanes, cleaning tools).
  • Manage facility lighting, including repairs and replacements.
  • Oversee loading docks, including doors and levelers.
  • Maintain entry and exit points, including automatic doors and locking mechanisms.
  • Conduct standard maintenance tasks such as carpentry, drywall repair, and painting.
  • Ensure regular trash and recycling pickups through contracted services.
  • Coordinate with property management for building repairs.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Critical Infrastructure:
  • Address time-sensitive maintenance needs with effective communication and coordination.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with external contractors.
  • Respond urgently to critical infrastructure issues regardless of time.
Emergency Response:
  • As part of the Emergency Response Team, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist must be available outside regular hours for emergency situations, including after-hours refrigeration alarms.
Qualifications:

Technical & Mechanical Skills:

  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with commercial equipment.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment and mechanical devices.
  • Experience operating equipment such as pallet jacks and floor scrubbers.
  • Valid driver's license for non-CDL straight body box truck operation.

Work Ethic and Professionalism:

  • Commitment to high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions accurately.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Competence in basic arithmetic operations.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Capabilities:

  • Ability to remain mobile throughout shifts.
  • Willingness to work early mornings and overnight shifts.
  • Full sensory range for quality control and communication.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Capability to bend, stoop, and maneuver as needed.
  • Ability to walk short distances and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various climates, including cold environments.
