Job Summary

The Human Resource Assistant will oversee the daily operations of the Human Resource department at Diesel Direct Inc, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering compensation, benefits, and leave, and maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations.

This role requires in-person attendance at the main office and does not offer remote work options.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, collaborating with departmental managers to understand required skills and competencies.
  • New Hire Orientation: Implement new hire orientation programs for each role.
  • HR Program Administration: Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
  • Employee Inquiries: Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Disciplinary Meetings: Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Compliance and Knowledge: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Requirements
  • HRIS and Talent Management Systems: Proficiency with the company's HRIS (ADP) and talent management systems is required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Education and Experience: 3-5 years of human resource experience is required.
