Job Title

Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing is seeking a highly qualified Associate Dean of Nursing and Education to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Nursing and a current valid California R.N. license. They will also have a minimum of three years' experience as an R.N., at least one year in teaching or clinical supervision within the past five years.

The Associate Dean of Nursing and Education will assist the Dean of Nursing with responsibilities such as formulating the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program. They will also coordinate with the Director of Nursing to establish, review, and revise policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have excellent leadership skills, be able to guide and direct the efforts of subordinates, and possess strong interpersonal skills. They will also have the ability to set goals and prioritize tasks, manage records accurately, and demonstrate computer literacy skills.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the formulation of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the ADN Program.
  • Coordinating with the Director of Nursing to establish, review, and revise policies and procedures.
  • Developing, coordinating, supervising, and consulting on management systems for the ADN Program.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating initial orientation and ongoing educational experiences for ADN students.
  • Assisting faculty in planning and developing clinical/theory schedules, lesson plans, etc.
  • Working with the Director of Nursing to develop, maintain, and utilize records and reports pertinent to the ADN program.
  • Assisting in securing, maintaining instructional, and reference materials.
  • Planning and overseeing the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Maintaining effective communication with assigned personnel and providing necessary guidance and counseling.
  • Participating in faculty meetings, projects, surveys, and studies being conducted by the Associate Degree Nursing Program/BSN and Administration.
  • Contributes to the development of new and better ways for performing job functions.
  • Assisting with preliminary interviews of prospective students.
  • Participating in the student counseling process.
  • Acts as first line substitute instructor on-call for clinical/theory relief.
  • Directs and monitors activities of the department in the absence of, or as delegated by the Dean of Nursing.
  • Confers frequently and routinely with the Dean of nursing in regularly scheduled work sessions.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
  • In the absence of the Dean of Nursing, assumes responsibilities of the Dean of Nursing.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
