Position Overview

The April Parker Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Intervention Worker Intern to join our team. As a Community Intervention Worker Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in community-based work, social services, and violence prevention initiatives.

This internship will provide you with the chance to work closely with experienced staff members and participate in community outreach efforts, community events, and engagement activities. You will assist in identifying individuals who may be at risk of community violence and providing support services to promote safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct street outreach to identify and engage with individuals at risk of gun violence
  • Participate in community events and activities to build relationships and create awareness around violence prevention initiatives
  • Support the team in providing resources, referrals, and follow-up services to individuals and families in need
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement community intervention strategies
  • Contribute to data collection and reporting efforts to monitor the effectiveness of the program

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a North Long Beach Middle or High School
  • Passion for community outreach and social services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of community resources and services is a plus
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment
  • Compensation is $21.00; 4 hours per week
