Overview:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a crucial role in the Cardiac Surgery department, delivering high-quality care at the New Brunswick campus. This position is focused on providing comprehensive support for both ICU and floor coverage.

The APP operates independently, adhering to established protocols while consulting with physicians in complex situations. Responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, making diagnoses, and managing patient care to enhance health outcomes. The APP is also tasked with identifying safety concerns and reporting any medical errors.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Active NJ APP license
  • Current NJ APN/PA licensure
  • Certification in NCCPA, DEA, CDS, ACLS, and BLS
  • Strong time management and critical care competencies
  • Able to handle a high volume of acute patients
  • Experience with procedures such as central line and arterial line placements, as well as chest tube insertions is preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in cardiac surgery or critical care is advantageous, though new graduates may be considered

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Day shifts
  • Weekend and holiday rotations are mandatory

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications, including injections and IVs
  • Assist physicians by documenting patient progress and managing diagnostic orders
  • Provide patient education and counseling
  • Ensure compliance with billing regulations
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge to deliver appropriate patient care
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop patient care plans
  • Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with facility standards
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other healthcare providers
  • Conduct patient examinations to assess health conditions and prescribe treatments
  • Guide patients and families on health management and medication usage
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Participate in protocol development and quality assurance initiatives
  • Perform comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations
  • Respond to emergencies with independent evaluations and treatment
  • Ensure continuity of care between physician visits
  • Coordinate nursing and training programs in compliance with policies
  • Maintain high standards of nursing practice and conduct regular chart audits
  • Perform wound care and minor surgical procedures as needed
  • Collaborate with physicians for accurate diagnoses and treatment plans
